Book Review: The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen

New Adult > Contemporary

Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it’s summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

…did I really bought this on Kindle?!! Yeah, I did. but nothing special here.

And what exactly is their secret? I can’t even remember what it was! I’m sure it’s not world shattering. Maybe I lost it with Micha’s constant lustful ogling at Ella and vice versa. O_o

The script made me uncomfortable. Ella keep saying Micha and her are just friends, but. but. they made out heavily 2-3 times in between her denials. Define inconsistency, Ella! And Micha.. I initially thought he was hot, but the disturbingly repetitive mentions of Ella’s breasts to boobs to tits, ah sh*t. Poor editing, perhaps? It was a big turned off! Micha keep saying he was totally in love with Ella. but all that comes out of his mouth is ‘peeking at Ella’s short shorts’ or ‘cupping Ella’s breasts’ or grabbing ‘Ella’s ass’. It was disgusting! So he’s a guy, I get that. But the delivery of the lines made those scenes leery and raunchy, like some homemade horrible teenage porn. I got repulsed before I even get titillated. Gah! Maybe Micha’s more in lust with her. He had this line saying that he haven’t fulfilled his lifelong dream of having sex with Ella. I say, WTF, Micha. you’re such a sleazebag.

I liked Lila and Ethan more than Ella and Micha. At least the former couple has more character than the latter.

Remind me again why I read this? Oh, it’s only $0.99 in Amazon. Man, I’m so gullible with cheap prices.

I think Pushing the Limits was better than The Secret of Ella and Micha. And that’s saying a lot because Pushing the Limits is already a mess on its own.
