Not That Kind of Girl reminds me a little of Kody Keplinger’s novels, The DUFF and Shut Out (more similarities on this one) because of the sex battles. While I found The DUFF awesome and Shut Out okay, Vivian’s book is somewhere between endearing (Connor) and irritating (Natalie).
If Natalie is getting tired of forced choices, I’m getting tired of her attitude. I did not like her for more than half of the book. She’s pretentious and an opportunist (when it comes to Connor). But i get her protectiveness for her best friend. Unfortunately, that made her for the worst, not for the better. Connor is the usual guy who gets the ‘jerk’ tag just because of his circle of friends that area jerks. I enjoyed him when she’s winning over Natalie, so sweet and determined.
Not That Kind of Girl is a so-so read for me. Connor’s resiliency might stay with me, but i think he’s all i will remember from this book.
