Q: Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

A: Way before i consumed the Sweet Valley (SVT, SVH, SVU) series and Love Stories series, Nancy Drew Series definitely started my big appetite for reading. I borrowed a copy from our HS library in sophomore year. I finished it overnight, and so i went back to the library to borrow and read all the books in the series that is available. That’s the start of my reading on espionage, mystery, crime & suspense genre. Then I moved on to Daniel Silva‘s books.

My fascination with Serial Killing themed-books began with Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood and The Survivors Club by Lisa Gardner.

The Legend by Jude Deveraux and Ransom by Julie Garwood wet my appetite for romantic (historical) novels!

The Hunger Games initiated my YA addiction and ultimately my love for dystopia. I didn’t know then that i was reading YA, much more a dystopian read.

Reading The DUFF by Kody Keplinger made me feel good and i can’t help but read it again and again. Maybe because even if i’m in my late 20’s, i can still relate to Bianca and her insecurities brought about by peer pressure in high school.

  1. I loved The DUFF! It was good to read a book that actually related to some of the real experiences of adolescence and the horrible actions that peer pressure can cause…
I agree about the Hunger Games, it and City of Bones were the books that really introduced me to my great loves: YA dystopian and paranormal/fantasy.
Anyways, ramblings out of the way, please feel free to come over and say hi, i love meeting new people!
    Have an awesome weekend,
    Imo 😀

  2. Ooh, I LOVE Nancy Drew books! I actually just love the whole mystery genre in general, because they’re always so clever and cool and interesting! 🙂
