This Friday’s Question:
Taking it Personal: Which books have effected you on a personal level and lingered in your mind long after you closed the pages?
*****
Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

Forbidden deals with such a sensitive issue and me loving it made me question if i am on my right mind. AM I?

Lochie & Maya repeatedly broke my heart but still i cheer for them – praying and hoping against hope that they will have a happy ending.

Forbidden made me emotional, hypocritical, and non-judgmental. Surely, i am not the only reader who felt this way.

Weeks (even months) after reading it, I still find myself thinking about how things would’ve been different if Suzuma (the author)  had been more kind (but i love her story, don’t get me wrong) to  Lochie and Maya’s story – just to give me as a reader the happy ever after i’m waiting for.

Unfortunately, the ending left my heart in tatters.

Then i realized, this is going to be a favorite of mine. one of the best love stories ever, despite the circumstances.

Now, every time i hear the song Landslide (by Dixie chicks) – Glee Cast version, i think of Lochie and Maya’s Story.

Q: Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

A: Way before i consumed the Sweet Valley (SVT, SVH, SVU) series and Love Stories series, Nancy Drew Series definitely started my big appetite for reading. I borrowed a copy from our HS library in sophomore year. I finished it overnight, and so i went back to the library to borrow and read all the books in the series that is available. That’s the start of my reading on espionage, mystery, crime & suspense genre. Then I moved on to Daniel Silva‘s books.

My fascination with Serial Killing themed-books began with Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood and The Survivors Club by Lisa Gardner.

The Legend by Jude Deveraux and Ransom by Julie Garwood wet my appetite for romantic (historical) novels!

The Hunger Games initiated my YA addiction and ultimately my love for dystopia. I didn’t know then that i was reading YA, much more a dystopian read.

Reading The DUFF by Kody Keplinger made me feel good and i can’t help but read it again and again. Maybe because even if i’m in my late 20’s, i can still relate to Bianca and her insecurities brought about by peer pressure in high school.

How about you? Answer the Q and hop along! Leave a comment so i can read yours!

Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter (Heist Soceity #2)

Frostbite & Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy #2 & #3)

Taran Wanderer by Lloyd Alexander (The Chronicles of Prydain #4)

I really enjoyed Heist Society so i hunted for the sequel immediately. In three days i scouted 6 bookshops until i finally have a copy. Yey! 🙂

I just finished Vampire Academy last night and, to say i was surprised by the quality of it is an understatement. It is really good! So yeah, i bought books 2-3 yesterday after work even if i still wasn’t sure how it will end.

Finally! With Taran Wanderer, I have the complete set of The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander! After years of waiting, i found a brand new copy that only cost me a dollar. 😉 This is my favorite children’s book fantasy series ever! Alexander’s books are Newberry Award and National Book Award holders.
